Athletic Trainers (ATs)- What are they and what do they do at OIM?

By technical definition: Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers work under the direction of a physician as prescribed by state licensure statutes.

Here at OIM we work in collaboration with and under direction of the OIM physicians. We provide the spectrum of care from Ainjury prevention to ZReturn to activity -beyond activities of daily living but to functional performance of your prior activity level and sometimes beyond. A care profile may include movement screenings for a head to toe assessment of your body’s compensation patterns and a corrective exercise plan for injury prevention or rehabilitation. Your physical rehabilitation plan may also include therapeutic modalities such as cold laser, electrical stimulation, or traction. Your program will almost ALWAYS include a home therapeutic exercise program, as YOU are the first line of care in your healing process! It is our goal to help provide you with the tools for healing and improved functional abilities as partners in your process.

We look forward to assist getting you feeling and moving better, and restoring your health, function and vitality!
